Ashe County 2024 Business of the Year

The Ashe County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Mountain Aire Seafood & Steaks has been selected as the 2024 Small Business of the Year!

This award, given to a Chamber member business in operation for at least three years with a staff of fewer than 25 employees and a solid commitment to the community, is well-deserved by owners Brenda and Joe Barker and their staff.

Mountain Aire Seafood & Steaks is a local institution f area residents and visitors alike. Patrons compliment the wide variety of offerings for all ages, the consistent good service and food, and the warmth and hospitality shown by the staff. At the heart of this hospitality is owner Brenda, who has selflessly served the community for over four decades, first as a dedicated waitress and now as owner for nearly 22 years. During this time, the Barker family has supported many local causes – offering aid and mentorship to other business owners feeding families staying at Camp New Hope, meeting neighbors’ needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges and serving hot meals to nourish As County athletic teams. Still, these are just a few of my acts of generosity. Brenda and her staff go above and beyond to ensure that customers leave content and keep coming back while also tirelessly championing: many needs in the community.
